  COMMUNITY

My LiveJournal Account: http://leaf-diaries.livejournal.com

I have a LiveJournal account, where you can read my manga reviews, random comments on the latest anime I've watched, learn about my drawing process, how I maintain my comics website, and just about my "amateur cartoonist" life in general.

I try to introduce and discuss less known manga titles that I feel deserve more spotlight in the mainstream. Most of these are more down-to-earth stories with less fantasy elements and (probably) more mature themes. Well, not always. I do try to mention a good mix of mainstream manga/anime works, too.

If there's any manga that you want me and perhaps other people to know about, by all means, post it on the message board on my homepage, and I would certainly consider reviewing it. If you have your own LiveJournal account and are interested in adding me to your friends list, I'll do the same. I love reading manga and talking about it, so drop by whenever you've time!

My YouTube Videos: www.youtube.com/leafdiaries

Also available on my MULTIMEDIA page, you can check out some of the videos I've made, all about manga and anime. Making and uploading videos are pretty time-consuming, but so far I've posted a few that demonstrate some of my drawing processes.

I'm also considering LPing video games based on anime (which would need to be pretty short, yeah) and just commentating on anime-related stuff, like doing a slideshow from my collection of anime characters with sweat drops or caricatured chibi heads. Is that lame? OK, fill me in if you have any interesting ideas for my videos. Later!

Comic Genesis:

Obviously, I'd need to mention the webhost for my comics website, ComicGenesis.com. It's a pretty cool community where prospective--and talented--webcomic cartoonists can have their own websites and showcase their comics. I love the degree of freedom they give you for designing your own site and handy automated uploading system.

If you're interested in web-publishing your comics or cartoons, this is a good place to begin.

DeviantART:

I used to pretty active on my deviantART account. It's still pretty cool, and it's an enormously big community for artists of all kinds. The reason I moved to ComicGenesis is that deviantART gives you limited control over your webpage, and I think it's more suitable for illustrators, not for sequential artists. You can have more control over your account (e.g. looks, layout) when you pay for subscription, I think. Still, like I said, it's a good online community, and you'll meet plenty of manga-crazed fans there, hahaha.

OnlineComics.net:

This is just a directory for webcomics on the net. I'm not really sure if it's a "community" in the sense that you can interact with other users... I guess you can... It's more for people who're looking for webcomics to read than artists who draw webcomics. Yeah. There's a whole list of comics you can search for, by title, genre, style, what-have-you. This is the best webcomics directory I found worth mentioning. If you find other directories, let me know please! ^_^

Manga Traders:

This is where I get my fill of manga on a regular basis. Manga Traders provides a huge collection of downloadable Japanese manga translated in English, and you can pretty much find any title here. Well not EVERYTHING but almost. I know there're other sites like this but I found this one most useful... I forget why... ^^; They also introduce new title for suggested reading, in case you've already maxed out all manga you know. Yeah.

Unknown Japanese Manga-ka: http://www.geocities.jp/sametamisosiru/index-r.html

OK, this is gonna be weird. I stumbled into this website one day and found a bunch of marvelous, awesome drawings. The entire site is in Japanese. I'm guessing it's run by an amateur manga artist in Japan, but I don't know anything else like if it's updated regularly or what. But I really liked her drawings and manga, so I thought I'd drop it here.
